Brown University, in partnership with the Greek island community of Naxos is pleased to offer a unique international experience for high school students.
This 3-week pre-college program introduces students to college-level inquiry and to area studies in the humanities. Students participate in structured seminars, lectures, and workshops that expose them to key historical, cultural, and contemporary issues of Greek societies. The program provides an environment that encourages curiosity, diversity, and responsibility, as well as an immersion in Greek life and culture supported through community building activities and residential support.
Naxos is the largest of the Cyclades Islands south of mainland Greece. It is an island of rolling green hills and valleys with clusters of Byzantine churches, medieval towers, and villages with handsome neoclassical houses. The program is situated in Naxos town (Hora), the island’s port and capital. Hora is a typical Cycladic town of cobblestone streets and passages. Small and intimate, Hora allows for a complete cultural immersion experience.
