Well, right now the the #1 Video Editing station in Grad Center seems like it has a broken hard drive. When it starts up, the hard drive makes an ominous repetitive clicking sound over and over again...eventually, the screen lights up with just a folder icon with a question mark on top of it. Definitely no fun.
Anyways, I'd suggest not trying to start up this computer again...if we don't, we might be able to recover some data from the hard drive (if that's actually a worthwhile thing to pay for...whatever)
I'm putting a sign up on top of the computer, but now you too can know why.
Good times, eh?
Posted by jtratner at April 13, 2008 07:10 PMNoted. This machine requires a new hard drive. Likely, whatever information was there is gone -- the repetitive clicking sounds like a hardware failure, and _not_ a software-based problem (corrupted partition table/directory information/etc).
