Information Technology Project Review Committee (ITPRC) Charge

The ITPRC is charged by Provost David Kertzer with reviewing Brown University IT project requests and deciding what projects receive priority in resources and funding.
Committee members will:
- Review and discuss proposed administrative and academic IT projects at Brown that represent a substantial commitment of university funding or personnel (e.g. $50,000 or 4 person months of effort)
- Decide whether each project should move to the detailed evaluation phase
- Review detailed project proposals and set a project priority level
- Approve funding if needed
- Approve resource levels
- Attend monthly meetings
In addition, committee members will:
- Oversee project scope, timeline, budget, major acquisitions and project status
- As needed, address policy issues affecting the success of projects
- Assist in communications about projects
- Participate in major project reviews and approve key deliverables
- If needed, decide if projects should be placed on hold while higher priority projects proceed
Projects that have the following characteristics will receive approval or priority:
- Support initiatives identified in the Plan for Academic Enrichment
- Provide business continuity in the operation of the University
- Explore a new use of a technology that will enhance our academic or business support services
