New mainframe connection SW for MVS/VM users

Posted on May 4, 2004 09:15 AM

CIS is introducing the new mainframe connection software HostExplorer, which will eventually replace TCP3270 and TN3270. HostExplorer offers a more secure connection as well as better portability, being browser-based.

To prepare for this transition, three training sessions are being offered to demonstrate the new software:

  • May 6 from 1-2 PM
  • May 12 from 9-10 AM
  • May 13 from 1-2 PM

All sessions will be held in the Swig Boardroom on the second floor of the CIT building. Those planning to attend should reply to Geoffrey_Greene@brown.edu at their earliest convenience so sufficient documentation can be prepared for all attendees.

Those who now use TCP3270 and TN3270 can continue to do so at this time, though the current software will be retired eventually. Ample notice will be provided before that occurs.
