Free hands-on training from CIS Computer Education is now open for registration. Classes include: Windows XP, Macintosh OSX, Excel, Outlook Email & Calendar, PowerPoint, Dreamweaver and Word. The winter session begins January 6. Since size is limited, early registration is recommended. Visit the Computer Education web site for details.

CIS offers a variety of computing classes for both staff and students. The fall schedules are up and registration is now open.

Staff are invited to sign up now for free training classes from Computer Education. Most classes run 90 minutes and are held in the CIT building. Session topics include:

  • publishing (both desktop and web)
  • financial and administrative skills (marketing, data analysis, timemanagement, project management and spreadsheets)
  • creating rich-media presentations
  • computing administration (database design, IT security, data collection over the web and email management)
  • Microsoft Office 2003 demo

Students can register for classes through the PASS (Professional and Academic Skills for Students) program, which offers regular sessions in:

  • web skills (CSS and XHTML, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, HTML)
  • graphics software (Illustrator and Photoshop)
  • Microsoft Office tools (Excel and Powerpoint)
  • plus more (FileMaker and Maintaining Your Windows Computer).

The mid-summer session of computing classes begin July 27th. Offerings include: Excel, FileMaker Pro, Web Requisitions, Photoshop, MS Project, Outlook, PowerPoint, Dreamweaver, Windows Basics and Word. Most classes are 90 minutes long and all are free to Brown staff. Early registration is encouraged as classes fill up early. Register online from the Computer Education website.

Computer Education has a full schedule of classes running through the end of June, including lessons in: Excel, FileMaker Pro 6 & 7, Web Requisitions, Endnote, Esperant, XML, IT Planning, Outlook, PowerPoint, Dreamweaver, Windows Basics and Word. Most sessions are 90 minutes long and all are free to Brown staff. Classes fill quickly, so early registration is recommended. Register online at www.brown.edu/cis/training.

Computer Education's registration site for the Spring session is now available.

Staff have almost two dozen classes to choose from, which include Excel, Filemaker, Photoshop and Project. Web publishers have several offerings this session including: CSS, Dreamweaver, HTML, Intro to Web Publishing at Brown, and Web Standards.

Most classes run between one and a half to two hours are held throughout the month of April.

The Computer Education winter session is now open for registration. Class offerings range from basic computing to working with presentation, graphic, database and web publishing software. Classes begin January 27. They are held Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in CIT269 and are generally 90 minutes in length. Visit the Computer Education site for a complete list of classes.
