Water Walk

This walk in downtown Providence explores the citys evolving relationship to and use of water over three centuries of development. Downtown Providence is uniquely sited at the confluence of the Woonasquatucket and the Moshassuck rivers, close to their meeting with the waters of Narragansett Bay. After first enabling the city to prosper on shipping profits, the rivers were suppressed over a century but have recently been rediscovered.
