Using a VPN connection wirelessly or on dialup are two of the most common connectivity issues. The VPN is a very sensitive connection and after a short amount of time without communication with your computer it will automatically disconnect. Often the brief disruptions in communication between a computer and a server caused by a slow dialup connection or a wireless connection is enough to do this. Usually, these two fixes will remedy normal connection issues.
Be sure you have the most current version of VPN, Currently Brown is offering Version 4.8. If you do not have the most current version it can be downloaded and installed at software.brown.edu .
You can also enable “Transport Tunneling” This is done by:
Opening your VPN client à clicking the “Modify” button à selecting the “Transport” Tab à checking off “Enable Transport Tunneling” à then selecting “IPSec over TCP”. Your TC Port should equal 443
Often personal routers and firewalls can cause VPN connection problems and need to be adjusted according to manufacturer specifications.
With the wireless expansion routers are no longer allowed in areas where there is Brown Wireless. The netextend form can be found here

By logging into www.brown.edu/myaccount and selecting “MyStuff” on the Right hand side of your browser you can activate MyStuff. It can then be accessed online from anywhere. Find more information at wiki.brown.edu
