Advising Partnerships at Brown

Brown’s curriculum allows students enormous freedom to craft their own academic programs. Liberated from the usual constraints of a prescribed curriculum, Brown students are encouraged to experiment with new approaches, to cross boundaries, and to explore new areas of study. They are not expected, however, to do this work in isolation. Perhaps the greatest benefit of the open curriculum is the way it promotes dialogue and engagement with many kinds of teachers on campus. Continuous feedback from students, faculty, and administrative staff can and should improve a student’s overall academic experience. Brown’s unique advising programs help to make this happen.
