Update 1/27/15: Apple just released version 10.10.2 today. If you have already upgraded to Yosemite, we recommend installing the latest updateHowever, if you don't have Yosemite yet, please DO NOT upgrade yet. We are testing this latest version to see if it fully resolves the wifi issues others have experienced after upgrading. Here are some of the relevant issues this update is supposed to address:

  • Resolves an issue that might cause Wi-Fi to disconnect
  • Resolves an issue that might cause web pages to load slowly
  • Improves audio and video sync when using Bluetooth headphones
  • Improves performance for browsing DFS shares in the Finder
  • Fixes an issue where certain Calendar invitations could be displayed at the incorrect time
  • Addresses an issue that could cause the input method to switch languages unexpectedly

Update 11/17/14: If you have already upgraded to Yosemite, we recommend installing the latest update as described here. However, if you don't have Yosemite yet, please DO NOT upgrade, wait until we're able to verify that the wireless issues are fixed with the latest update.

Apple's new operating system, Yosemite, has known issues with Brown's wifi, and currently there is no reliable fix. Please do not upgrade to Yosemite until the next update is released and CIS confirms that it is compatible with Brown wireless. We will edit this alert to indicate when that is the case, and send a Morning Mail

We are aware of a problem with Workday. We are experiencing login issues and slow performance.

We will be posting all updates, including the resolution of the problem, on the alerts section of the IT at Brown homepage at http://www.brown.edu/information-technology; please check regularly for updates.

We are aware of a problem with IPTV and are working to identify and resolve the issue.  Functionality that may be impacted by this problem includes: tiling and buffering of the following channels: Al Jazeera, TVSMONDE, and MyGerman TV.

This issue has been resolved.

We are seeing slowness to log into Workday (5-10 minutes) and slow performance once you have successfully logged into Workday.  Workday Corp. is currently reviewing this issue.  We will provide more information as it becomes available.

Brown's wiki, wiki.brown.edu, will be unavailable from 6am - 8am on Tuesday, January 6th during an upgrade.
