Dr. Ravi Pendse

Vice President, Chief Information Officer

Dr. Ravi Pendse serves as the Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Brown University.  He is also a Brown University Cisco Fellow.  Prior to joining Brown, Dr. Pendse served as the Vice President and CIO at Wichita State University.  He has been a professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science for over two decades.  He loves teaching and sharing ideas. To arrange an appointment, please contact Wendy Octeau,

Geoffrey Greene

Director, IT Support Services

Geoffrey Greene is Director of IT Support Services at Brown University. Geoff has worked in IT at Brown since 1988, holding a variety of positions. In his current role, Geoff oversees the Help Desk, Software Services team, IT Support Consultants team, Communications and Training team, and the Production Services team. He led the Google project that moved all university faculty, staff, grad, and med students to Google. Geoff is a proponent of ITIL and continuous service improvement methodologies. He is helping to lead efforts to use ITIL to standardize process and tools in support of all IT services. David Sherry

Chief Information Security Officer

As CISO at Brown, David Sherry has institutional responsibilities to provide proactive security expertise and guidance, engineer robust security architecture, champion identity policy, and enhance the culture of security awareness. As the university spokesman for both information security and privacy, Sherry also plays a key role in the records management program, regulatory compliance, and copyright law. Prior to moving to the higher education arena he spent several years in financial services, with responsibilities for enterprise security governance and regulatory compliance, access controls and operations, identity management, and the security awareness program. David sits on the EDUCAUSE Higher Education Information Security Council, and is a contributor to Information Security Magazine. John Spadaro

Deputy Chief Information Officer

As the Director of Technical Architecture and Outreach John is responsible for insuring that Brown's IT systems work together seamlessly to provide the university community with a comprehensive and modern set of reliable IT services that meet the needs of research, scholarship and the administration. He also works to involve IT professionals from across the university to create a more global view of IT at Brown. A Dartmouth College graduate, John has been at Brown since 1984. Prior to his current role he served as a User Services Specialist, ran the Student Help Desk and was a mainframe systems programmer. More recently John directed the infrastructure systems and services team that supported email, directories, web services and the underlying infrastructure that makes them all work. John Styer

Director, Enterprise Application Services

As Director of Enterprise Application Services, John Styer oversees teams that provide Project Management, Web Services, and Reporting/Data Warehousing services, as well as teams that implement and support enterprise systems such as Human Resources and Payroll, Financials, Budgeting, Research Administration, and the Banner Student system. He serves as staff to the Information Technology Project Review Committee and the Student Systems Coordination Committee, two groups that review, prioritize, and make decisions about new IT project requests. John has over 27 years of experience in information technology as an applications developer, project manager, and in other leadership roles. Tim Wells

Director, Telecommunications and Network Technology

Tim Wells came to Brown in June of 2006 as CIS's new Director of Network Technology managing all aspects of the network and bringing with him over 20 years of IT experience. Since then Tim has taken on responsibility for Telecommunications, Media Services, Service and Repair and Facilities IT Project Coordination. Before Brown, Tim was the Vice President of Enterprise Strategy and Architecture for Citizens Financial Group. During his eight years at Citizens, Tim held engineering and senior operational management positions, with responsibilities that included voice and data network support, planning and design, distributed systems support, data center cable architecture, storage architecture, disaster recovery and business continuity. Previously Tim worked for Honeywell Consumer Products as a network manager building a global voice and data network to support product manufacturing and distribution. Linnea Wolfe

Director, Infrastructure Services

After graduating from the University of Rhode Island with a bachelor of science in Management Information Systems and Management Science, Linnea Wolfe worked for four years as a database administrator for government contracting companies supporting the naval Trident submarine program. She came to Brown in 1989 as a database administrator, supporting the Josiah library system. She has held various management positions in Computing and Information Services in the database, administrative technical services, and infrastructure areas. Her current responsibilities as Director of Infrastructure Services include; database services, systems services, datacenter operations, and storage, backup and IT DR services. Catherine Zabriskie

Director, Academic Technology Services

Catherine Hays Zabriskie is the Director of Academic Technology at Brown University. She oversees the Instructional Technology Group, Media Production Group and MultiMediaLabs. Her staff works in partnership with the University community to enhance teaching and learning and address strategic needs in support of faculty, staff and students through the effective use of technology. Catherine received her B.S in Art History from the University for Colorado, and her M.S. in Educational Technology Leadership from the George Washington University.
