Brown generates over 100 tons of trash during move out each year. You can help Facilities Management reduce the tonnage by donating usable items you won't be taking home.
On Friday, May 10, Facilities Management and the EcoReps will place blue rolling containers at the entrance to each dorm. Place your donations of clothes, shoes, household items, linens, and unopened food, toiletries, and cleaning supplies in these containers. Large donations (such as TVs and furniture) can be put in the Clean Break corrals located at Emery-Wooley, lower Hughes Court and lower Patriot Court.
Students located at New Pembroke, Keeney Quad, Grad Center, and Young Orchard / Perkins have been provided with large Goodwill containers, which are located in convenient out-of-doors adjacent locations.
Donations will be picked up through May 28 by Goodwill and by The Furniture Bank, which partners with 85 social agencies in Rhode Island.
All recyclables (paper, notebooks, cans, bottles, tupperware) can be placed in the blue recycling bins in your dorm's Recycling Center. Check out the Recycling page for more information on what is and isn't recyclable.
If your dorm's recycling center has closed for the year (May 13th for select dorms) please take all trash and recycling to the dumpsters located near the entrance to your building.
