Rana Dasgupta's new book Capital: The Eruption of Delhi (Penguin 2014) is out now in the US. Capital, a non-fiction exploration of life and money in twenty-first-century Delhi, has already garnered much praise since its release in Britian in March 2014. The Guardian called it an "intense, lyrical, erudite and powerful book... Dasgupta has provided a welcome corrective to the reams of superficial travel writing describing the whimsical, the exotic, the booming or simply the poverty-stricken in India. His is a much more complex, darker story."
Rana Dasgupta was in residence at Brown last semester as the Distinguished Visiting Lecturer and Writer-in-Residence for the Modern Culture and Media department. He discussed his latest work at the Brown-India Initiative event, Writing India, on April 15.
