Most computer hardware is installed and set up by Department Computing Coordinators or CIS staff who provide departmental support in a shared model. Those who need additional assistance after contacting a DCC, or DCCs who need support, can contact the CIS Help Desk and set up an appointment for a IT Support Consultant to assist with setup and deployment of computers.
These sessions give departments the opportunity to receive computer training tailored to their skill level and specific use of a software product. Sessions are generally 1 to 2 hours in length and can be held at the department (demonstration) or at CIS' training room (hands-on).
Personal training sessions may be scheduled for those needing assistance beyond classes and departmental trainings. Training is offered by phone, email or in person. If applicable, trainees are encouraged to attend a class before scheduling a session.
Computer Education offers a variety of training sessions for supported applications, including the Microsoft Office suite, web publishing tools and database software. Most classes are short (1 to 2 hours) and focused on a specific use of the software.
