These sessions give departments the opportunity to receive computer training tailored to their skill level and specific use of a software product. Sessions are generally 1 to 2 hours in length and can be held at the department (demonstration) or at CIS' training room (hands-on).
Personal training sessions may be scheduled for those needing assistance beyond classes and departmental trainings. Training is offered by phone, email or in person. If applicable, trainees are encouraged to attend a class before scheduling a session.
Computer Education offers a variety of training sessions for supported applications, including the Microsoft Office suite, web publishing tools and database software. Most classes are short (1 to 2 hours) and focused on a specific use of the software.
The computing knowledgebase contains help articles, FAQs, and problem resolutions for common software products. Eventually, Brown-specific solutions will be added.
CIS Software Services negotiates and manages software licenses for the most commonly used applications at Brown. The software distribution download page provides an extensive list of available software which is available to members of the Brown community at no cost.
