The Environmental Change Initiative (ECI) at Brown is a broad interdisciplinary approach with scientists and students from the physical, life and social sciences as well as the public policy arena to address the urgent environmental problems that occur from local to global levels. Solving environmental problems will take new research as well as effectively communicating the problems and solutions to those who care most, from everyday citizens to elected officials.
ECI helps researchers communicate specialized knowledge to create new solutions to our environmental problems, and builds collaborations to extend its impact, such as its integrated education and research partnership with Marine Biological Laboratory at Woods Hole. The Brown-MBL Graduate Program in Biological and Environmental Sciences unites the MBL's and Brown University's expertise in biology, environmental sciences and medical research and offers talented graduate students the chance to work collaboratively on interdisciplinary projects with scientists at both institutions.
