Research Summary

My primary research interests are based on the use of parallel-plate waveguides for novel THz applications such as sensors, filters, and couplers. Typically these devices are enabled by incorporating other structures into the waveguide such as a rectangular groove for a high-Q resonant cavity sensor or an array of sub-wavelength apertures as a tunable narrowband filter by exploitation of extraordinary optical transmission (EOT). Currently, I am working on the development active waveguide devices by incorporating reconfigurable liquid metals into the waveguide geometry. I also have a strong interest in excellent teaching and learning practices as well as effective communication skills.
