Ocean State Consortium of Advanced Resources (OSCAR) was initiated by Brown University and IBM as a public and private collaborative platform of over 40 regional educational institutions, labs, businesses, and government organizations addressing local challenges to contribute to global innovation.
Leveraging the state’s unique physical, natural, and human resources, scholars, government officials and entrepreneurs come together around small-scale “pilot projects” around health, environment, energy and education that no one organization or institution could tackle alone. Through these pilots, OSCAR forms research teams to gather new data and make recommendations about where the state should invest its time, energy and money. These projects aim to engage research expertise and student real-world learning opportunities to resolve the state’s biggest challenges and secure a future far beyond OSCAR’s current reach.
