The Pembroke Center Associates is an organization that works to sustain the exciting work of the Center's students and faculty. We are a membership organization that is open to all. We offer engaging programs and lectures; publicize Pembroke Center activities through a newsletter, Facebook, Twitter, and other avenues; support student research with grants and prizes; and, celebrate the history of Brown women through the Christine Dunlap Farnham Archives.
With the support of the Associates, the Pembroke Center is able to provide Brown faculty, students, and postdocs with funding, scholarly forums, publications, and courses that are the lifeblood of innovative research.
Your membership is your passport to one of the most vital and creative communities of scholars at Brown.
Surpassing its $1 million goal, the Pembroke Center announced the completion of the Pembroke Challenge on November 4, 2011 having raised $1,504,265 to endow new research initiatives at the Pembroke Center.
In October 2010, Elizabeth Munves Sherman ’77 P’06 P’09 challenged the wider community to raise $750,000 in support of the innovative research initiatives at the Pembroke Center. When the amount was met, she and her husband David Sherman ’79 P’06 P’09 donated $250,000, but the Center and its supporters went on to raise over $1.5 million to support new research at the Pembroke Center.
See what fascinating faculty research is now underway thanks to the sucess of this effort and the generosity of our donors.
