Professor Meredith Hastings has been chosen to receive the 2014 Ascent Award from the American Geophysical Union. This prestigious prize, commensurate with her many scientific achievements, aims to reward exceptional mid-career scientists in the fields of the atmospheric and climate sciences.
Dr. Hastings is a distinctive voice in the field of atmospheric chemistry. She combines skills in field observations, instrument design and rigorous laboratory analysis in ways that are innovative and creative. She has established herself as an expert on nitrogen isotopes in ice cores, and someone whose empirical work can be trusted and whose interpretations are robust.
The award will be presented at the Atmospheric Sciences Banquet on Tuesday evening December 16 during the AGU Fall meeting.
