International Conference on the Nigerian Elections

The daylong Achebe Colloquium, "The International Conference on the Nigerian Elections," took place Dec. 11, 2009 in the Westin Hotel, Providence, Rhode Island.

The Colloquium involved some of the world's most prominent experts on Nigeria. It was convened by Chinua Achebe, the Nigerian-born intellectual and author of Things Fall Apart and recently appointed David and Marianna Fisher University Professor and professor of Africana Studies at Brown. "I had no special qualification for calling you all together," he told the audience, "except for a very strong feeling that something was getting out of control" in Nigeria. Read more...
