Commencement Forums
A series of academic colloquia by faculty, alumni, and distinguished guests.

2:30 p.m.

Graduate School Ceremony Rehearsal.
All advanced-degree recipients are required to attend a walk-through of Commencement.
Lincoln Field

3:30–5 p.m.

Reception for all advanced-degree candidates, their families, and guests. Co-sponsored by the Graduate School and the Graduate Student Council.

Sunday, May 25

9 a.m.

Commencement Procession Formation
Academic regalia is REQUIRED to participate in the Procession and the Graduate School Ceremony
Waterman Street between Brown and Thayer streets see map.

10:30 a.m.

Graduate School Convocation Ceremony

University Ceremony

Immediately Following

Departmental Ceremonies at assigned locations as listed in the Commencement program. Most following ceremonies, depending on the number of graduates in the department, will end no later than 4 p.m.
Families are strongly encouraged to meet at the location of their department ceremony and not to try and locate each other on the College Green at the conclusion of the University ceremony.

 

Rain Plan: The Commencement procession will be cancelled only in the event of heavy rain conditions. If the rain plan is in effect, a yellow pennant will be flown on the flagpole on the College Green and a message will be left at 401-863-2474. In the event of heavy rain, Ph.D recipients should report to the west-facing entrance of Barus and Holley (the eastern end of Manning Walk), and master’s candidates should report to the lobby of MacMillan Hall by 10:00 a.m.
