Commencement Details for Medical School Degree Recipients

Saturday, May 24

Rehearsal and Graduation Dinner for M.D. ‘08

All candidates for a medical degree must attend the Medical School ceremony rehearsal at 11:00 AM in the First Unitarian Church (corner of Benefit and Benevolent Streets).  Breakfast will be provided.  The rehearsal will conclude at 1:00 PM.  The graduation dinner for the MD Class of 2008 will be held at 6:00 PM at the Providence Marriott.

Sunday, May 25

Commencement

The Procession

No later than 9:00 AM, all Medical School degree recipients, dressed in cap and gown, should report to the Marcus Aurelius Statue behind Sayles Hall for the class photograph.  Breakfast will be available immediately following.

At approximately 9:45 AM, the medical students will move to the assembly area on Waterman Street, facing west, running from Faunce House back toward Thayer Street.

The Commencement procession steps off promptly at 10:30 AM.  See the map for details on the exact route of the procession.

The Commencement procession will be cancelled only in the event of heavy rain conditions.  If the rain plan is in effect, a yellow pennant will be flown on the flagpole on the College Green and a message will be left at 863-2474.  Medical School degree recipients, in caps and gowns, should report directly to the First Unitarian Church by 11:00 AM.

No alcoholic beverages are allowed during the procession or the Commencement exercises.

The Medical School Ceremony at the First Unitarian Church

The Medical School Ceremony will begin at approximately 11:15 AM at the First Unitarian Church and the doors will open at 10:30 AM for seating.  Immediately following the Medical School ceremony, a post-graduation reception will be held at the Hope Club, Six Benevolent Street.
