Become a Commencement volunteer

Would you like to be part of a Brown tradition dating back to 1769? Wear the red volunteer badge with your colleagues at Brown’s 240th Commencement.

Date: May 25, 2008
Time: approximately 7 am to 1 pm
Who can volunteer: any Brown staff member

Example Volunteer duties:

Provide directions to families and guests
Distribute commencement programs
Assist with student seating
Assist with the academic procession
... and serve in a variety of other roles

Here’s what one long-time volunteer says about ushering on Commencement morning:

The orientation program for Commencement volunteers provided us with tools, resources, and information. The head ushers all seemed to be in ten places at once, and were quick to problem-solve and assist. Every year after I leave, I feel an immense satisfaction and privilege in being a part of the Brown University community.
