Registration Information FAQs
Q. Is it necessary to register for Family Weekend 2009?
A. Yes. Seating is limited at the keynote lecture and faculty forums; registration name badges are required for these events. In addition, a head count is needed for catering orders, equipment rentals, and facility reservations.
Q. Why do I have to pay for Family Weekend?
A. Your registration fee offsets a portion of the overhead required to put on our Family Weekend events, which involve security, staff, tents, printed materials, facilities rentals, and other services. We do all that we can to keep our registrations fees low so that as many guests as possible can enjoy Family Weekend with their Brown students.
Q. Do I have to register younger Family Weekend guests?
A. Children aged twelve or younger are exempt from the Family Weekend registration fee. However, we still provide nametags for our younger guests, so please provide their names during the registration process. For guests ages 12 or under, designate “child” to the right of your young guest’s name to be exempted from the registration fee. Please note that tickets to optional events such as athletic events are required for all children.
Q. Do I have to pay for my student?
A. There is no general registration fee for your Brown student. However, you will need to purchase tickets for your student for all optional ticketed events, with the exception of athletic events (i.e., the football and soccer games).
Q. How do I get our name badges and tickets?
A. Upon your arrival at the Brown campus, stop at the Maddock Alumni Center, 38 Brown Street (corner of George and Brown streets), to pick up your registration packet, which will include your name badges. You will also receive the final program for the weekend, including a comprehensive and updated schedule of events with locations and detailed descriptions of all planned activities.
Q. Where do I park?
A. You may leave your car in any of the University lots any time from Friday at 5:00 P.M. through the weekend. The two lots with the most spaces available on campus are the Erickson complex, corner of Hope Street and Lloyd Avenue; and the Power Street lot (both lower and upper levels) at the corner of Power and Thayer streets. The top level is entered on Power Street and the bottom level is entered on the corner of Williams and Brook streets.
Q. I already registered and paid online, but I need to make some changes. What should I do?
A. If you wish to make changes to your order, please contact us.
Q. Is the server secure for credit card payments?
A. Yes! We offer you a secure server to ensure that your credit card information is completely protected.
Q. I don’t want my information sold to a third party. What is your privacy policy?
A. We are extremely protective of your privacy and security. The information you provide will be used only to process your registration.
