Users have been inquiring about bulletin board software to add to their web site.  Currently, Brown does not have or support any bulletin board.  For course-related uses, WebCT is available and has a bulletin board feature built in. 

Most users have been using software called phpBB, which is available at: http://sourceforge.net/projects/phpbb/.  Again, CIS does not support this software, nor do we know how to install it or fix it.  To run phpBB, you will need a MySQL database.  To get a MySQL database, send a request to webpublishing<at>brown.edu.  Once your database is created, you'll receive an email back with all the information you need to set up your bulletin board.
