Web Definitions

client/server - The two ends on which computers communicate. The client is the agent that makes a request and the server fulfills the request.
FTP - File Transfer Protocol
SFTP - Secure File Transfer Protocol. It is different from FTP in that is encrypts your password and other information that is sent to the server. FTP does not.
http - Hypertext Transfer Protocol
Internet - A set of networks designed for communication where no central area exists. Designed to continue to function even if parts are removed.
URL - Uniform Resource Locator, an address to a web page
webpub - Brown's web server
Web Server - Computer dedicated to granting user requests for web pages
WWW - World Wide Web, a part of the internet designed for information exchange using marked up files for text and graphics.
