To change your password, you'll
need to log in to webpub.brown.edu through a command
line. You can do this in WinSSH on Windows, using
Terminal in Mac OSX or Putty on an earlier version
of Mac OS.
Switch to Terminal View in WinSSH
Connect to webpub.brown.edu with
the username and password that you have. If you're
in the File and Folders view, you'll need to switch
to the terminal view. You can do that in WinSSH by
clicking on the left, white button you see here:
On the Mac, Terminal (OSX) and
Putty (earlier Macs) will bring you directly into
the view that you need.
Once logged on, type this command:
passwd
Notice there is no o or r in the
command. From that point, follow the instructions
of entering your old password, then your new one twice.
The server will tell you if this was done successfully.
If successful, your old password will no longer work.
Only your new password will work.
If you don't know your old password,
please contact webpublishing at brown dot edu.
