Secure FTP with MacSFTP (Mac)

To securely connect to the Brown web server, you will need to use MacSFTP if you're a Mac user. Here's some simple instructions how how to use it. If you don't have the application, download it from Software Services

Open MacSFTP's Secure File Transfer Client.

Click on File and then New Connection

A box pops up that looks like this: login

Enter the Host Name (usually it is webpub.brown.edu).

Enter your username for the Login.

Enter your password.

Enter your path: /export/home/<put your username here>/www

Click Connect.

Now showing is a graphical interface (show me) where you can click the Remote button at the top to Put Files/Directories from your computer to the server or you can Get Files/Directories from the server onto your computer. When you get files, you are only taking a copy. The original will remain. When you put a copy on the server, it will overwrite the file of the same name. So be sure that is what you mean to do.

To disconnect from the server, click on File and then Close.
