Michael Bartini named director of Brown's Office of Financial Aid

Michael D. Bartini, director of financial aid services in the College Board's New England Office, has been named director of financial aid at Brown University.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Michael D. Bartini, longtime director of financial aid services in the College Board's New England Office, has been named director of financial aid at Brown University. Bartini will succeed Anthony Canchola-Flores, who is returning to the College Admission Office to direct Brown's recruitment efforts for minority applicants.

"Mike Bartini has a long and distinguished record in financial aid and scholarship services," said Brian Hawkins, senior vice president for academic planning and administrative affairs. "He has been a valuable resource for students and their families as well as a consultant to colleges and universities on financial aid issues. Mike inherits an office that has made tremendous improvement, particularly in the quality of its customer services. I believe he is an excellent choice to continue the extraordinary enhancement of financial aid services begun by Tony Canchola-Flores."

Bartini, a graduate of Westfield State College (B.A., economics, 1976), has devoted his entire career to financial aid in higher education. He was named director of financial aid at Simon's Rock College in 1976 and moved to a similar position at Washington and Lee University in 1979. He began his association with the College Board in 1983, as associate director of financial aid services in the middle states regional office, and moved to his current position as the College Board's New England regional director for financial aid services in 1985.

Bartini will visit campus frequently during the summer and will begin his duties officially on August 15.
