Chinese democracy activist Wang Youcai available for interview today

Wang Youcai, the Chinese democracy activist who arrived in Providence Thursday, will be available to reporters at 1:30 p.m. today (Monday, March 8, 2004) at the Watson Institute for International Studies.


PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Wang Youcai, the democracy activist released by Chinese authorities on Thursday, is staying in Providence as the guest of Xu Wenli. (Xu, who was also released suddenly from prison by the Chinese, has been a visiting senior fellow at Brown University's Watson Institute for International Studies since his arrival in Providence in December 2002.)

Wang, accompanied by Xu and a translator, will be available to press at 1:30 p.m. today (Monday, March 8, 2004) in the Joukowsky Forum at the Watson Institute.
