Brown University will reopen Smith Swim Center on Wednesday, Jan. 17,2007, after repairs to the building’s roof system.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] — Brown University announced today that Smith Swim Center will reopen for use on Wednesday morning, Jan. 17, 2007.

The facility had been closed Dec. 20, 2006, as a precautionary measure, after the discovery of several structural problems in the facility’s roof system. Since that time, structural engineers have evaluated the roof and recommended corrective actions. Those repairs are currently in progress and are expected to be completed by Tuesday, Jan. 16.
