The Brown University community was saddened to receive news of the passing of Mr. Warren Alpert on Saturday, March 3, 2007.

Mr. Alpert’s interest in health care and biomedical research led The Warren Alpert Foundation to make a generous gift to Brown Medical School earlier this year. As we recently announced, the University named its medical school in his honor. Mr. Alpert’s philanthropy will enable the University to enhance medical education at Brown. We are grateful for Mr. Alpert’s support, which will help educate generations of young physicians at the University.

On behalf of the entire Brown community, especially the faculty, staff, and students of The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, we extend our condolences to the friends and relatives of Mr. Alpert, to his nephew, Herbert Kaplan, to the staff of The Warren Alpert Foundation, and to the employees and business associates of Warren Equities Inc.
