The Brown squad gave a good account of themselves but came up short as the Bermuda Under 23 side defeated the Bears 33-27. A misnomer to be sure, the Bermuda squad as with the Police on Saturday, have both fielded members of the National squad, so the Bermudians have taken the Brown squad seriously.

Brown started well enough with two Brown penalty kicks by wing Sam Rabb'10 for a 6-0 lead, but the very talented Bermuda fly half set up three quick Bermuda scores, all converted, for a 21-6 Bermuda lead. At this point the Bears could have folded, but instead settled down emotionally and picked up the intensity, sending prop Ryan Drebin'12 over for two tries, both converted by Rabb to close the score to 21-20 at halftime.

Midway through the second half. Brown took the lead. Brown drove a lineout five meters and lock Ben Mossbarger'10 was the beneficiary, touching down for the score with Rabb adding another conversion for a 27-21 lead.

With Brown again pressuring, a Bermuda interception went for a converted score to put the Under-23's up 28-27. Another Bermuda try with seven minutes left upped the Bermuda lead to 33-27 and Brown was unable to recover.

This Brown squad included a good number of younger players, many of whom stepped up their games and made significant progress in this match.

Brown will play its last match in Bermuda against the National Team that is beginning preparation for a tour in two months time. The ,match to be played at the National Sports ground on Wednesday night will be a good opportunity for Brown to play the best the Island has to offer and to test the Bears progress this season. The match will kick off at 6:30 P.M.

A dedicated group of parents and alumni joined us on tour and we appreciate their support: Jim and Melinda Rabb, parents of Sam and Dan.
