Ramses III of the Twentieth Dynasty is often considered to be the last great king of Pharaonic Egypt. His mortuary temple is located in ancient Thebes at modern Medinet Habu on the west bank of the Nile. Some of the scenes depicted on the walls surrounding the Temple were copied from the Ramesseum, the near-by mortuary temple of Ramses III's role model, Ramses II. During the Libyan invasion of Egypt, this temple was used as a shelter for local people.
