Sophia Academy in Partnership with the Sarah Doyle Women’s Center

Project Goals

  • Empower Sophia Academy students (largely from low-income, single-parent homes) to solve environmental problems.
  • Engage middle school students in designing projects that result in emission reductions.
  • Help students introduce practices into their own homes and communities that reduce carbon footprint.

Project Status

  • Fall 2008: classroom projects and curriculum and students collected information on home energy use.
  • Spring 2009: CFL and thermostat projects.
