EN0156 - Applied Electromagnetics

Applied engineering concepts in contemporary electromagnetics, with emphasis on microwave and guided wave (fiber) optics. A review of electromagnetic wave propagation in free space, followed by treatment of guided wave concepts. Topics include electrical transmission lines, microstriplines, directional couplers, other microwave guided wave components, and wiring limits on a microelectronic chip. Prerequisite: EN51 or PH47 or equivalent good first course in Electricity and Magnetism.
