Unlike Pinocchio, the creation of Hadaly, in Villiers de L'Isle Adam's L'Eve Future, happens from the inside out, starting with the “living system of the interior” (or the soul), then with the “plastic mediator" (separating the soul from the rest of the automaton’s parts),

then

the “artificial flesh”

These layers explain the animation of Hadaly in minute detail. Collodi has provided no such explanations for Pinocchio’s ‘inner workings’.
