But
not all real boys are proper boys. Neither Lampwick,
nor Pinocchio’s comrades on the Island of Busy Bees
(“the
seven deadly sins”) meet the Blue Fairy's description
of what it is to be a proper boy. Lampwick will have his
humanity taken away from him for not being a "proper
boy,"
-- a foil for
Pinocchio's ultimate fate -- but the boys who trick Pinocchio
into skipping school
to
go to the beach will face no consequences
for their actions.

What can one conclude about the status
of their reality (or humanity)? How necessary is it to
be proper in order to be real?
