One of the Assassins pulled out a horrid weapon that resembled a blade or chisel, but Pinocchio, in defense, bit the assassin's paw clean off and struggled free from the grasp of his assailants. He ran for his life.

After a race of 15 miles and almost 2 hours...

Pinocchio, gasping for breath, saw a little house in the woods. He heard the assassins so close behind, he frantically knocked on the door. There was no answer and Pinocchio peered through the window and saw a beautiful young girl with blue hair and a face as white as wax.

"There is nobody in the house," she said. "They're all dead. I am dead too."

Confused, Pinocchio asked, "Dead? Then what are you doing there at the window?"

"I'm waiting for the bier to come and take me away..."

She wouldn't open the door and the assassins eventually caught up to poor Pinocchio. Without further ado, they tied his hands behind his back. After they wrapped a noose around his neck, they strung him up from the branch of a Great Oak.

Pinocchio cried out, "Oh, dear father!... if only you were here!"

Pinocchio struggled to stay alive as he swung from the Great Oak. As he breathed his last breaths, he looked up to see the outline of a great bird soaring through the sky.
