Pinocchio was suspicious of the two thieves and he politely declined. The Cat and Fox were about to pressure the puppet with some forceful persuasion, but that's when they heard the creaking of wooden carriage wheels. It was good Geppetto, on his way to the Fairy's house. The Cat and Fox had the strength to overpower a child puppet, but not a fully grown man. They scampered away in fear.
Geppetto and Pinocchio had a tearful reunion in which Pinocchio promised he would be a good boy and take care of his aging father. They returned to the Fairy's house and the three of them lived as a family happily ever after.
