Sabrina Ergun: One of three Ancient Egyptian obelisks called Cleopatra’s needles that currently reside in London, Paris, and New York. Each obelisk is intricately inscribed with hieroglyphs. They were originally built around 1450 BCE on the orders of Thutmose III, but the inscriptions were added 200 years later by Ramses II to celebrate his military victories. Later on the obelisks were moved to Alexandria and positioned outside the Caesarium—a temple built by Cleopatra.
