Ian B: Jawhar as-Siqilli was the founder of Cario. He rose from slavery to becoming a military general of the expanding Fatimid empire. He conquered from Morraco to Egypt before estabilishing the new capital of al-Qahira for the Fatimid empire in the late 10th century CE. He also oversaw the construction of the al-Azhar mosque which still stands today.
Later in his life Jawhar attempted to annex Syria and Palestine but did not succeed but he did negotiate a treaty with the Christian Nubians on Egypt's Southern border protesting the North African Islamic Empire.
