Sabrina Ergun: Al-Nasir Muhammad was the ninth Mumluk Sultan of Egypt. He reigned three seperate times, from 1293-1294, from 1299-1309, and from 1309-1341. In 1318 he built the al-Nasir Muhammad ibn Qala’un Mosque as the royal mosque of the Citadel. He is noted for being able to prevent a Mongol invasion and for cracking down on corruption of the Emirs.

ian: Particularly effective in organizing the state and its authoritarian dimensions. Though it was marked with a level of prosperity that does not seem to have been maintained by his successors.
