Excavations today uncovered low quantities of artifacts from every open unit.

A1 is now done. Excavations on the NW side of the unit proceeded to sterile soil. The unit now needs to be drawn and filled in. Excavators were Zoe and Asa.

A2 was not touched today.

A3 was under the direction of Melissa and Kirin. They found few artifacts, mainly some small pieces of glass.

A4 was excavated by Jenn and Tina. They lowered the eastern side several layers without finding any artifacts. Then, they worked on the western side of the trench. They uncovered a fragment of a large pipe, possibly cast-iron which seems unrelated to the copper tubing found a few weeks ago. More work is necessary in this unit.

B1, under the direction of Lindsey and Adam B, deepened by another layer. Artifacts from this unit included some glass fragments and brick fragments.

B2, under the direction of Jenna and Aaron, proceeded well. They began to excavate the NE corner of the unit in 10 cm increments. The goal is to open the bottom of the unit quickly, to come upon the animal remains found earlier.

B3 is now open. Christian and Adam M were responsible for the unit. They have opened a small corner of the unit and are finding an array of glass and some ceramic pieces along with many rusted iron fragments.

B4 was excavated by Rodion and Cody. Work went slowly (due to the roots) with few artifacts recovered.

The excavations at the Church were featured in the Brown Daily Herald website
