Scale can be defined as the size of something in relation to something else. Scale can refer to architectural plans where the scale is the size of the drawing in relation to size of the building in real life. It might refer to the size of an object in relation to the viewer or the size of an object is relation to surrounding objects. - Christina De Cola

Scale often refers to the ratio between sizes of objects in art. For example, the scale in the Stele of Naram-Sin is quite important to its overall meaning since the large size of Naram-Sin himself signifies his importance. Scale also plays a role in linear perspective where objects that are further away are depicted on a much smaller scale to show their distance from the viewer. - Steven Hang
