You may not want to visit Columbus, but there are many reasons why the residents love it. Centrally located, Columbus is the capital city of Ohio and the only growing metropolitan area in Ohio. In 2008, Columbus was the 16th largest city in the United States, with 754,885 residents. Columbus’ tag line is “the heart of it all” is due to its location, growth and activities. The city is organized into districts; separated by use. Each provides unique opportunities to shop, dine, and explore. The Arena District, located in downtown proper, is home to our professional hockey and arena football teams. In response to the many sports enthusiasts attending games several restaurants are located surrounding the Nationwide Arena. Just south of downtown is German Village, the nation's largest privately restored historic neighborhood. And at downtown's northern edge is the Short North arts district, often referred to as Columbus's version of SoHo. North of the Short North area is the Ohio State University, founded in 1870; it is the largest public university in American with an enrollment of 53,715.
