An archaeology/natural science opportunity in Tokelau, a small set of atolls in the Pacific. The Tokelau Science Project is a unique research project looking at archaeological findings, traditional knowledge and modern ecological practices in Tokelau as a base for future education opportunities in traditional Tokelauan natural resource management as well as university settings. It is managed by David Addison, a professor at American Samoa Community College, and the program itself is conducted in conjunction with the University of Hawai'i at Hilo. Ceramics Restoration and Conservation Program:
May 23 – June 19, 2010
This four-week program’s objective is to familiarize students with the materials of ceramics and the practices of restoration and conservation of archaeological ceramics. The program includes classroom study and fieldwork. Students will have the opportunity to work on archaeological artifacts from the excavation at the Roman Baths of Carsulae.
