ian: IN many ways it is about the production of knowledge about this thing called the Orient -- which may be in reference to Muslims but may be just about what is known as the project of othering. THe question we need to consider is whether all Orientalist scholarship is biased and whether that even matters. Think back to the issue of the revisionist vs the traditionalist narrative of early Islamic origins.
