Faiyad: Masjid an-Nabi directly translates to "Mosque of the Prophet" (iDaafa). It is the name of the primary mosque in Medina, which is the second most holy site in Islam. The mosque was supposedly the first mosque built in Medina, as the site of the building was chosen by the Prophet upon his arrival to the city of Yathrib.

ian: Did later mosques take this as their model? In what ways is it the origin of the idea of this institution?
