Cindy Cummings is a performer/choreographer/tutor
based in Cork. Originally
from the US, she trained at the University of
Oregon and later in NYC. Cindy's
performing career has continually crossed the
boundaries between dance, theatre, live and
visual art.
Since 1990, Cindy has lived in Ireland. Past projects
include: 'Habit perForming' with
dancer Maggie Harvey and artist Julie Forrester;
'One Night Stands' with
percussionist Tommy Hayes; TRIUR BAN with photographer
Amelia Stein and poet
Nuala Ni Dhomhnaill; numerous solo dance works
(ICA, South Bank Centre, New
Moves Across Europe, National Review of Live
Art (UK); 'The Secret Project' with
half/angel; 'Toupees and Snare Drums' with CoisCeim/Abbey
Theatre; 'Tracing Houdini'
with Scottish dance artist Ruby Worth and 'Baby
Jane'with The Corn Exchange.
As a choreographer Cindy has worked extensively
in theatre (Abbey, Peacock and the
Gate), film ('The Last September' and 'Moll Flanders'),
and television (Morbegs/RTE,
Frontier Films). As a tutor she has crossed the
length and breadth of Ireland working with
the NAYD, The Samuel Beckett Centre, The Gaiety
School of Acting, APDI and the ICD
@ the Firkin Crane. Currently she is involved
in two national dance research groups:
White Space (University of Limerick) and Catalyst
(Cork). And in her spare time, she
works as a river guide in Montana with Lewis
and Clark Canoe Expeditions.
